German transport operator Stanglmeier is adding to its fleet 20 new CROSSWAY Low Entry buses in city version, which will operate on the Verkehrsverbund Großraum Ingolstadt (VGI) network. Primarily deployed on regional and school transport routes, the vehicles will support the newly awarded transport services across the Greater Ingolstadt area, helping ensure reliable, efficient operations from day one.

The official handover took place at Stanglmeier’s headquarters in Mainburg, in the presence of IVECO BUS teams and its sales and after-sales partner AGK Truck & Bus, highlighting the close coordination between the partners to ensure the smooth deployment of the new fleet ahead of its entry into service.

The delivery of the 20 vehicles, completed in July, enabled Stanglmeier to prepare the fleet under optimal conditions, well ahead of its planned entry into service. This schedule allowed for the installation of onboard equipment, the application of the VGI visual identity and the completion of all necessary operations, ensuring the vehicles were ready for the start of the new school year in Bavaria.

A coordinated partnership supporting a smooth fleet deployment

During the handover ceremony, Stanglmeier’s management underlined the efficient and collaborative cooperation between all partners involved in the project.

“The on-time availability of the vehicles was crucial for the successful launch of our new transport services. Throughout the entire project, the cooperation with IVECO BUS and AGK Truck & Bus was highly professional, collaborative and solution oriented. We were particularly impressed by the short delivery lead time. This provided us with sufficient time to fully prepare all vehicles for operation within the VGI network and to put them into service on schedule for the start of the new school year,” said Christian Stanglmeier, Managing Director, during the official handover ceremony.

IVECO BUS also underlined the importance of close coordination between manufacturer, dealer and operator in ensuring a smooth and timely vehicle deployment.

“This project reflects our ability to provide operators with mobility solutions tailored to their operational requirements and to passengers’ expectations. We are proud to support Stanglmeier with high-performance, reliable vehicles designed to deliver passenger comfort, and we thank the company for its trust in IVECO BUS. Together with our partner AGK Truck & Bus, we worked in close coordination with Stanglmeier’s teams to facilitate vehicle preparation and integration into the VGI network under the best possible conditions,” said Giorgio Zino, Head of Commercial Operations IVECO BUS Europe.

A specification tailored to VGI’s day-to-day operations

Configured to meet the daily needs of the VGI network, the 20 twelve-meter CROSSWAY Low Entry buses in city version combine capacity, accessibility and onboard comfort. Each vehicle offers 43 seats, complemented by two folding seats.

On board, the equipment has been selected to enhance the passenger experience while supporting efficient day-to-day operations:

  • Wi-Fi connectivity for enhanced passenger convenience
  • USB charging ports to meet passengers’ digital needs
  • TFT passenger information screens
  • Luggage racks to improve comfort on interurban journeys
  • Automatic passenger counting systems for accurate ridership monitoring

Before entering service, the vehicles received VGI’s distinctive livery, ensuring full visual integration into the network.

The CROSSWAY Low Entry: a European benchmark for regional and school transport

A recognised benchmark in Europe’s interurban Low Entry segment, the CROSSWAY Low Entry addresses operators’ key priorities: easy accessibility, passenger comfort, performance and operational efficiency. As the CROSSWAY range celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, this model continues to demonstrate the value of a proven solution designed to meet the evolving mobility needs of local communities. Its versatility makes it particularly well suited to networks combining regional services, peri-urban routes, commuter journeys and school transport.

With these 20 new vehicles, Stanglmeier is relying on a proven, versatile solution to support the development of services on the VGI network and deliver, from the start of the school year, a reliable and high-quality public transport offer for passengers across the Greater Ingolstadt area.
